Some Interesting Facts About Tennis

Here are some facts which according to me are weird /interesting (btw I love the answers and there will be few overlaps in mine).

1- Leander Paes- Most Successful Indian Player. Won single’s bronze medal in Olympics’96. Also 8 doubles and 10 mixed doubles Grand Slam titles.

2- Longest Match- 2010 1st Round Wimbledon, Isner and Mahut battled for 11 hours and 5mins.

3- Fastest Serve- Sam Groth of Australia clocking 163.4 mph (that’s just insane).

4- Tennis Strings- In past they were made of cow and sheep guts.

5- Arthur Ashe (Centre Court US OPEN is named after him)- First African American to win the US OPEN.

6- Tiffany and Co. - This famous jewelry brand makes the US OPEN trophy.

7- Rufus the hawk- Patrols the skies over Wimbledon (keeping pigeons away). Here Rufus with Murray :)

8- Loudest Grunt (funny)- Loudest of all reached 105 decibels, came from none other than Maria Sharapova in ’09 Wimbledon.

9- Serena Williams Disqualification- Disqualified from US OPEN ’09 for spatting with the line umpire.

10- Roger Federer (my idol has to feature here lol)- Won ’17 Wimbledon without dropping a set, first time after ’76 (Borg won the title then).
