Why Contact Lenses Are Better Than Glasses
Author: bradley sheldrickWhy Contact Lenses Are Better Than Glasses
Do you already wear glasses and are thinking about making the transition to wearing contact lenses instead? Or has your optician just informed you that you need some aid with your eye sight and now you need to figure out whether contact lenses are right for you? Then do read on!
The advantages of wearing contact lenses
There is an endless list on the advantages of wearing contact lenses as oppose to wearing glasses, but here is a quick cap on the main points which makes contact lenses the better option over wearing glasses:
- Contact lenses sit right onto the eye, whereas glasses sit further away from your eye. This means that with the actual lens on your glasses being further away from your eye, you get a distorted vision of the world around you, where as a contact lens sits flush onto your eye meaning that you get a correct view of your surroundings.
- Ultimate peripheral vision. When wearing normal glasses, the frame of them block your peripheral vision, which means you don't get a complete view of your surroundings, as contact lenses have no frame, you get ultimate peripheral vision.
- Contact lenses are weightless, where as the frame on glasses have some weight to them. This weight will be noticeable to the wearer of the glasses as you find them slowly slip down the side of your face throughout the course of the day, and as they rest on your nose you get the tell tale dents in your nose.
- Contact lenses are unnoticeable to everyone else. Most people get self conscious about wearing their glasses as they can be quite an eye sore, pardon the pun, and take away from the natural appearance of ones self.
- You can change your eye colour with contact lenses adding a subtle change to your look when you want to mix things up a bit.
The disadvantages of wearing contact lenses
Contact lenses aren't perfect:
- As they physically touch the eye, there is an increased risk of infection to the user as glasses do not touch your eye.
- Contact lenses need replacing often, making them more costly.
However, the over all pointer to make is that it is all down to the individual whether contact lenses are for you as oppose to normal glasses. If you are active and glasses bug you - then switch to contacts!
