Understanding the ASQ Six Sigma Green Belt, CSSGB

Employees, who spend half of their time on process improvement teams, are called ASQ Six Sigma Green Belts. They are basically involved in Six Stigma or other quality improvement projects. Co-op, interns who have been paid, or any other course work cannot apply whatsoever towards the work experience requirement. Work experience is only required in paid role, full time.


At every level, Six Sigma Professionals exist, each with a different role to play. There are white belts, yellow belts, green belts, master black belts and black belts, at the project level. People like these direct projects and improve them by implementing.

1. The white belt works on problem solving teams locally that support projects altogether, but may not be a part of Six Sigma project team. From an awareness point of view, it understands the basic Six Stigma concepts.

2. Then comes the yellow belt; as a project team member, the individual participates and also checks improvements that support the subject.


3. We now have the Master Black Belt. It trains and coaches Black belts and green belts. It functions well and more at the Six Sigma Program by building a strategic way and key metrics.

4. Green Belt, for Black Belt projects, helps with data collection and analysis.

5. Finally comes the Black Belt; this coaches and trains project teams and leads problem solving projects.

The organizational support is immensely needed by every project. To select and develop projects, six Sigma executives and champions are needed. At a high level, they make sure that projects succeed, are valuable and fit within the plan of organization.

Champions are the ones who create an organizational employment by translating the company's vision, goals, mission, and metrics. They also remove head blocks and analyze resources. Executives give over all alignments to authorize Six Sigma Program's strategic focus, within the framework of the organization's vision and culture.


The minimum expectations for a CSSGB are:

1. Has work experience of at least three years,

2. Has not led a project, but has participated in one,

3. Solves and analyses quality problems, and

4. Include in quality improvement projects
