There are different shirt types which are described here:

Dress shirt: it's for formal wear and it has collars and full sleeves having cuffs. It's kept stiff so that wrinkles don't develop. You can wear it on formal occasions or at work.

Camp: it also has a front opening, but with short sleeves. The collar is camp type, besides the cut is kept straight.

Dinner: the purpose of dinner shirt is to wear at night occasions specifically with black or white tie.

T-shirt: it's for casual purpose and the most common among different types. It's popular among all ages, kids, adults, old people and even women. It has different stuff than the shirts and the fabric is woven. You can either wear it at top or under the shirt or coat, etc. It can have full sleeves, or half-sleeves, round neck or collar, or v-neck. Some styles even have buttons on front, but with a slight opening. These are also available as cheap men's shirts.

Guayabera shirt: this is not very common as it has embroidery, moreover it has four pockets. It's a kind of dress shirt.

Poet: it has furs that's why called a poet shirt like old times, and it has loose-fitting with full sleeves.

Ringer: it's a kind of T-Shirt that has a separate fabric for collar and hems.

Half shirt: it has high hems and it's a T-Shirt. You can also wear it with cheap men's shorts.




Camisole shirt: it's developed for women and worn as an undershirt. It has narrow straps; it's also called a semi-shirt or strappy top.

Polo: specifically designed for golf, tennis or polo players, however now it's commonly available for everyone. It's a sleeved shirt having buttons and the back side is longer than its front.

Rugby: it's also for sports having long sleeves, and it has a rugged making in wool or cotton, however it's very soft.

Henley: it's also a polo shirt but it's collarless.

Baseball shirt: it has three quarter-sleeves, which is very unusual, and it has a flat waist seam.

Sweat shirt: it's also very common having long sleeves and it's developed in heavy material. It can be with or without hood.

Tunic shirt: it is developed using two pieces, and it's also worn by both men and women.

Night shirt: it's developed for sleeping purpose, and has collars, but cuff less full sleeves. It has a soft fabric and very comfortable. Both cotton and silk are used, and it is mostly over sized.

Tailored shirt: developed for women with a different cut and it has an inclined shape.

Sleeveless shirt: as the name depicts it has no sleeves, it is also called a tank top.
